Nail it Friday: Essie A Stroke of Brilliance

I came across this beautiful polish by accident. Totalky by chance and it begged me to come home with me. So it did. And I love it!

It's one of those glitters you need an opaque polish underneath. The glitterspecks are both small and big, a nice blend of both. I decided, or my fiance decided for me, to put black under. And with a stroke of brilliance over my nails looks like the night sky. Oh I might mention that the glitters are blue. Not silver, but blue. A very cooltoned blue. They come out nice and evenly and applies beautifully. The formula feels a bit gellike. Which I don't mind in this. It wouldn't work if it were thinner or thicker. And they stay put for a week straight! Some falls out but overall continues to look good. I will love this til it runs out! And then I shall be very sad. I have a feeling this will be my staple nailpolish this summer.

Which will be your most worn color this summer?

Nivea Express Hydration Primer

You might recall from my beautyhaul that I picked up a new primer. It was an instant loveaffair.
I was in a dire need of a primer. And I didn't get enough moisture out of my current day creme so I decided to give this a go. Since it combines my two needs I both save money and time. What could it hurt to try? And it didn't disappoint. It had me from the first touch.

It comes in Niveas standard glass jars. I would prefer it in a glass bottle with a pump. An open container is bound to get bacteria in it after a while no matter how much you clean your hands. You can't to anything about what's in the air. Anyway. The formula is great. It feels watery and smooth. On the skin it feels cooling, which is nice when it's hot outside, when it's first applied. It sinks in immediately and works its magic. The skin gets smoother and over time it gets more hydrated as well. Makeup looks fantastic on top of it. Both creme and powder. It makes my foundation stay put. I have yet to find a foundation that stays put and looks good for more than 6 to 8 hours. I will say this, it doesn't smell like Nivea stuff usually do. It smells like PROFFS mousse. It doesn't smell anything when it's been on your skin for a while. If it did, I wouldn't use it.
I would recommend this for any skintype. From early teens to mid 30's. Go try it!!

I have noticed that I reach for Niveas stuff over any other brand. No, I'm not sponsored to say this. It's just that I can trust their things. They don't do me any harm, they perform well, they have a great pricepoint and they can be found just about anywhere.

Nail it Friday: IsaDora Marzipan

I just wrote the whole post, and accidentally published it, and deleted it again. Oh well, here we go again.
Usually I show you polishes I like. Last weeks post was a borderline case. But this week, I thought I'd share a polish I really really don't like! To keep things fresh and honest. And it's such a spring color!
Doesn't it look pretty in the bottle? It looks like a lightweight marzipan green. Or like a fresh shower of matte green apples. Or like pear ice cream. I could go on and on. It isn't matte but it isn't glossy either. It is a straight up green with no undertones, no sparkles, not even with a hint of shimmer to it.
The application is a nightmare! It streaks and gets uneven without trying to look good. It's like it doesn't want to be a polish. I can't even begin to guess where this polish went wrong. The formula is good so it has every chance of being good. Normally I love IsaDoras polishes, they're easy and foolproof. But his one? It's a funk in the bunch, a total dud! As for weartime, I don't know. It annoys me to the point where I don't keep it on my nails for a day straight. I've had it for a few years now and it hasn't changed a bit. It's still the same as when I first got it.
I want something like this, but slightly more naturally looking and with better application.

Which polish in your collection do you want to love but it wont let you?

Bad Mascara

Do you guys know when it's time to throw away your mascara? I bet everyone of you have your own tells.
When it starts to get dry and flaky is a great warningsign that you might have to
replace it sometime soon. Another one that I just discovered is when it starts to irritate your eyes. Like you've got bits of mascara falling into your eyes all day and they itch and hurt. It's gotten to the point where I get a headache from it! I will not do this to myself anymore! I can't grow new eyes. Evolution and science haven't cracked that nut yet. Freaky if they had?

Got any suggestions for me? I've been eyeing Lancomes Hypnose Star mascara for ages! You know the one with glitter on the end of the bottle! I almost got last years special edition of it. The funky stars from Alba Elbaz. But I'm trying to hold out in case they do something like that this year.

Yves Rocher Vitamin Mist

I've seen just about every beautyblogger out there rave about one face mist or another. If it's just for a facerefreshner, makeup settingspray or calming mist, they are very loved and very much talked about. So, naturally I've wanted to try one for ages. But I didn't feel like spending a ton in case I didn't like it.
This lil guy looks amazing and smells great! It doesn't smell exactly like red grapefruit, but it comes very close. It is supposed to give your face a boost, a vitamin kick and liven things up again. It's even supposed to work as a setting spray. Promises alot and delivers nothing! It does feel cooling and refreshing. But at the cost? It broke me out like nothing else. I'm guessing it's all the perfumes in it. I might give it another go later on in the summer when my skin isn't as dry and easily irritated. I want something like this with those properties that doesn't break me out. If you have a normal easy going skin, give this a go. If not, better to stay away. You'll find it online at yves rochers site. They have deals going on all the time.

Nail it Friday: OPI Louvre me Louvre me not

I've wanted to show you guys this polish for so long. But every time I think if using it, I change my mind, be cause I know what a nightmare it is!
At first glance it doesn't look any special. Except it's a gorgeous plummy color with a vine undertone.
At closer inspection you can see there's a million pieces of stardust hidden in there- That's what drew me in to buy it in the first place.

The glimmer is hardly noticeable on the nails, but I know it's there. Why don't I like this then? Oh, where shall I start? First off, since it is an OPI polish it means high end. That in turns had my expectations pretty high. It applies unevenly like mad. I have to put another polish underneath to even give it a fighting chance to look good. It streaks and the color payoff isn't the best. It gets darker closer to the nail bed and gets thinner as you go. The formula is really really thin! I think there's where it falters. If the formula had been just a tiny bit thicker it wouldn't have these problems. But since it's so thin it dries fast? You could think that, but you would be wrong. Why do I use it then? Be cause it is sooooo pretty! It's a gorgeous sophisticated color. Looks nothing like the bottle no matter what you do. As for wearing time, you get about three to four days use out of it. Pretty ok, not great.

My first ever OPI polish and it disappointed me. I wouldn't recommend buying this. Not that I think you can anymore. But if you find it, take another one instead. My honest and most heartfelt opinion.

Which OPI polish do you love or hate? Which polish drives you absolutely up the walls?

Maybelline Babylips Peach Kiss

I could barely hold in my excitement when I found out that the Babylips finally, finally, had made their way over here. Must've been a long and troublesome journey to take them two years I so envy you guys over in the states! You don't know how good you have it!
I found mine in a sales shop and snagged just one. I wasn't too sure about the other ones but I thought that Peach Kiss looked promising.
And let me tell you, I am hooked!

Standard plastic packaging in a very nice pastelly purple color. Think I have a nailpolish in a similar color.
A pinkypeachy tone with a slight brown undertone to it. Don't worry, that's just what the bullet looks like.
It's very sheer bordering on no pigmentation at all.

On the lips it looks a little bit peachy with golden microglitters. Very natural and nude. It applies evenly and smells amazing! Smells just like the candy in the picture below. When you first get it on your lips it feels watery and soft. No stickyness or pleasantries. My lips can be without a fault when I first apply any lipproduct just to get chapped and horrible later in the day. Doesn't matter what lipproduct it is. Not if it's a pure lipbalm, that would be impossible? I wouldn't describe the Babylips as a lipbalm. Sure it feels balmy at first. I'd more say it's a lipgloss with a slight lipbalm effect to it. It doesn't stay hydrated for very long and the color fades after an hour or so. I think it's a very nice product to throw on just to feel a little bit more awake and put together.
Google picture. It smells just like this candy! Who else thought these were the best back in the day? I used to have one around my neck all the time!

It is supposed to stay hydrated for 8 hours and give you better lips in a weeks time. I don't believe either of those statements. As I mentioned above, it stops feeling hydrated after an hour. It is said to have spf 20 in it which is good.
All in all I love it!

7 Deadly sins of Beauty Tag

It's been a while since I did a tag post. I thought I'd try my hand at the, a bit odd, but widely popular 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag.

1. Greed. What is your most inexpensive and most expensive beauty items?
Most inexpensive must be my new eyeshadow palette from W7. Most expensive on the other hand. That I have in my collection right now, or that I'd ever owned? I'll go with right now. It's my L'Oreal Infallible Foundation.

2. Wrath. What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
As of now, my Rimmel Color Rush stick.

3. Gluttony. What are your most delicious beauty products?
My Babylips in Peach Kiss and Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush in Juiced Berry. It's something berry at least. The first part have faded with lots of love.

4. Sloth. What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?
When I'm lazy, I'm really lazy. I don't put any makeup on at all.

5. Pride. What beauty product gives you the most confidence?
Beyond a doubt my mascara! Without it I'm blah and pale.

6. Lust. What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
Why doesn't it ask what attributes do I find the most attractive in a beauty product? That would make more sense! Oh well..The eyes! Oh beautiful captivating eyes!

7. Envy. What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
High on my wish list is one of the Naked palettes, I can't decide which one, the porefessional primer from Benefit, the Too Faced Chocolate bar palette and Taylor Swifts Wonderstruck perfume.

Now lovelies, I tag all of you!

Nail it Friday: Kicks Grey

Even though the sun is shining I felt like going a bit darker, a bit more natural. After having worn colors for so long I felt like a color-detox was in order. I opted for a grey polish with just a hint of shimmer to it. It's very subtle and hardly visible.

3 coats of grey in the picture.

It's a cool toned grey bordering on the blue side. It applies thin and somewhat uneven. You'll have to be very patient and have loads of time to get this one right. And knowing me, always on the go and about, I mess it up more times than not. But when I get it right, oh my, it's beautiful! It wears really well. But be ware, use a base coat or it will stain your nails. They'll go a bit yellowish. To spark things up a bit I put a dark grey/black polish with silverglitters over the grey on my ring fingers. I love me some silversparkle! I've had it for about a week now and only have some tip wear, but no chipping!
All in all, I like it, but I wish the application were a bit more even and predictable.

New Makeup haul!

I did it again. I totally destroyed the bank and went a bit nuts. In my defense, it could've been worse. I put a lot of things back in the shelves and decided to pass. I have to ban myself from doing any makeup related shopping for the next 2 months. At least!
 Oh my!
I needed a new primer and didn't see the harm in getting one of the hybrids. A primer/daycream hybrid. I have extremely dry skin and need something that moisturizes and fixes and keeps my face looking cute all day.
I've never tried this because it's so expensive here. So imagine my joy when I found it really cheap!
I've never shopped anything for myself from The Bodyshop. It's not typically my kind of store. But I was shopping for a friend who hapens to love their stuff and I found this. It smells amazing! It smells just like a real pink grapefruit!
I must be on a mango kick or something, I needed a new scrub and this smelled amazing, the rest is history! I'm so looking forward to try this!
Oh my! These FINALLY made their way over here. How long have they been available in the US? A year? Two? We are so behind on the beauty stuff  and it's making me really mad! I got it in Peach Kiss. It smells amazing! It smells just like those candy necklaces and bracelets that was so popular in the 90's. You know those multicolored candies on strings, shaped as bracelets and necklaces you  could wear around your neck? Yum!
I've never heard of the brand before. W7? Anyway, it was really cheap and if it doesn't meet my expectations I can't really complain. The golden one looks a bit scary in the pan. The taupe one looks so beautiful!

Time to change

I think a change in design here are about time, don't you? I feel like taking this to the next step. Making it look more polised, yet simple and elegant and fresh. Any ideas guys? Or you are extremly good at this kind of stuff and feel like taking a crack at it? I think I'll roomage around here this weekend, if I have the time. Any recommendations or sugegstions are more than welcome. I dont bite, I promise!

April Favorites

I've had a really good April. Loads of sun and other happy things to keep me busy. Some of my recent purchases made their way straight into this months favorites and some are rediscoveries.

Sadly enough the sun decided to go hide and seek when I took the pictures.
An oldie but a goodie. You can read my review of it here.
I really can't get enough of this body splash in Mango papaya from I Love..
Best foundation I've ever tried. This shade, 120 Vanilla, will soon be to light for me. My nose have been in the sun and gotten a little bit of tan, and more it will get! You have to try it!! You can read my full review of it here.
First item to make their way straight into my monthly favorites. This little concealer from Maybelline might just be the best concealer I've ever tried, and I have tried a lot! First thing from the Fit Me range that I actually like. I like it best for hiding some blemishes and spots. I don't like it as much under my eyes. My shade is 15.
But for under my eyes I like this lil guy from E.L.F. The concealer part of it that is, not the white milky end.
The days when I felt like wearing a little bit of color on my eyes this have been my go to eyeshadow. It simply is beautiful and a must try! It's Maybellines 24 hours color tattoo in Pink Gold. You find my review of it here.
Number 2 of my newbies to make their way in here. I fell in love with it after first try. And that was as soon as I opened the package. It is easy and looks natural and I don't have to faff about with a pen! Thank you Maybelline for making an affordable dupe for Benefits Benebrow! Mine is in the shade Dark Blond.
Last but not least, gotta have some shimmer in the sun! I love the waarm shimme rit gives me. It's from Rimmel and called 001 Gold Princess. I reviewed it way back when I first started.

Tell me all about your loves of late.

Nail it Friday: IsaDora Bon Bon

It wasn't too long ago all the textured varnishes surfaced on the market here. I've been eager to try one ever since. My eyes first landed on IsaDoras varnishes. They are for some reason really good, all of them. Next to Essie, they are my favorites. And they just launched their summer colors.

I got it in twoo colors, but we'll start with this one.
134 Bon Bon.

It is the softest pastelly pink. It looks like a million sugarcrystals have been mushed in there. The finish is more o the satin than shiny or matte. It is surprisingly easy to get even. You can get it sheer in one coat and build it up as you go. I prefer three coats of this, it dries fast and wears well. As far as removal goes it just glides right of. And that my ladies are the most surprising part of all! It's nothing like gittery polishes that are a nigtmare to remove. I just wish it would've been a tiny more bit pink than white.
